anyway, i'm slowly but steadily becoming fed up with all things art school. the semester better end soon. i *am* trying to not skip class too much and get good grades so that i'm not stuck doing end-of-year exams (the ones that aren't mandatory, at least) but it's kind of hard when i don't want to do anything. and when i get fed up i draw unfunny, crude shit. i'm sure all of you already knew that.

i've wanted to draw this place since i played the game the first time, but since i suck at buildings and scenery, i kept putting it off until i got a good reference i could copy (meaning: took photos of the tv screen when link arrives to kakariko for the first time.

since i am massive fail at it, i completely botched the perspective despite the ref and tried to cover it up with shiny colors. typical me! oh well.

i've, uh, done it. i spent all the afternoon revamping an old zelda fanart from 2004.
relatively easy, all things considered, since i still liked most of it. i wish i still had the patience to paint stuff like this regularly.

when you asked me for an illustration from one of your fics i immediately thought of we three, kings, which is one of my favorite bring back black fics and one of my favorite r/s fics overall.

i also thought of drawing the sex scene in your rs_games fic for round 2, but this one won out. maybe next year? :B


now, i'll admit that drawing this was like pulling teeth, which is a shame, because i knew that *this* was the scene i wanted to illustrate, and no other. i almost gave up after three failed sketches, but in the end i pwned the bastard. i think i'll still go back to revise it, it still has a few things that look wrong, but i'm pleased with the coloring (which was surprisingly easy) and atmosphere.

ps. watch out for the surprise at the end. ;>

i'm going to be honest and say that i'm not happy with it. particularly the pacing in the first pages before remus kisses sirius. i think it's too rushed and the feeling of nervousness and awkwardness could have been extended -- although, without dialogue, it would have dragged for too long. there are so many things wrong with the anatomy in nearly every panel i cringe, and the lines and coloring/shading are too dirty. i would have liked to do a better job with the color (read: use other colors besides pink or greys), but i was in a hurry, and i didn't have time.

those are my complaints. nonetheless i'm happyto see it got a good reception and a good number of comments; it did make me feel a little better about it.

this is an illustration for her fic images of the past. i fear the drawing doesn't really do the scene justice, so you should go read it, now. the image really feels incomplete without the writing to compliment it.

paula (it's ok if i call you that, right?), i would've liked to fit the whole scene up until the embrace, but i felt these two frames were more than enough, as continuing the sequence felt off (maybe it's just my lack of comic-making skills). i also know you prefer your characters with robes, so i hope the shirts and trousers aren't much of a turn-off. that's just the first image it came to mind and i decided to go with it. the colors were what i most got from that fragment, so i hope i did a good job with them. i admit that the "real" colors got mixed up with the colors described in the painting, but that's fixable (to an extent) if you feel the final result differs too much. i also hope the amount of trees, etc etc approaches what you had in mind. i also hope you like it. :D
